MEETING TIME CHANGED
Regular Meeting, 6:15 to 7:15 pm in Room B120, SCCC. Short program on banding Saw-whet   Owls (VF & MC) We will have a brief meeting, including election of SCAS officers (with pizza    provided). NOTE: The DEC has changed the timing of their final scoping session on natural gas drilling in Sullivan County. They will give their introduction at 5:15 pm in the SCCC Field House with input from the public beginning at 6 pm. We have changed our previously announced meeting time so members can hear the DEC presentation before our meeting.
Saturday, Dec. 13 Field Trip to look for gulls and winter specialties. Leader John Haas. Meet at Apollo Plaza at 8:30 am. Call 888-0240 for more info.
Sunday, Dec. 14 Field Trip to the Beechwoods area to search for winter birds, especially raptors. Meet at 8 am in Peck’s parking lot in Jeffersonville. For more info call leader Renee Davis before 8 pm at 482-5044.
Saturday, Dec. 27 Christmas Count: Join a team and spend the day counting the birds in your assigned section         of our count circle. (Call Valerie at 647-5496 to sign up for a team.) Countdown & light supper will be at Ruth Shursky’s at about 5:30 pm. Call Ruth (434-4417) to see what you can bring.
Jan. 1 to Jan. 7

Feeder Count period.

Jan. 17 to 25 Annual NYSOA Waterfowl Count. Target date Sunday Jan 18th. This is the annual statewide count of ducks and other waterfowl with results reported to the DEC. Go out on your own and count all waterfowl you see in Sullivan County within those dates (or go with Renee–see next   field trip). Please write down exact date, location, miles traveled and time and report them to Renee Davis at 482-5044.
Sunday, Jan. 18 Waterfowl Field Trip to lakes and rivers. Meet at 8 am in Peck’s parking lot in Jeffersonville to look for waterfowl around Sullivan County. For more info call Renee Davis before 8 pm at 482-5044.
Sunday, Jan. 25 Field Trip to Galeville Airport. Meet at 2 pm at the commuter parking lot in Wurtsboro on Rte 209. We will search for wintering birds in the area around the preserve. For more info call Renee Davis before 8 pm at 482-5044.
Feb. 1 to Feb. 7

Feeder Count period.

Feb. 13 to 15 “Feathered Frenzy,” our annual midwinter bird count done anywhere in the county in any 24- hour period during that weekend. Go with a friend to see how many kinds you can find. A simple meal at Ruth Shursky’s about 5:30 on Sunday will be followed by the countdown. Call 434-   4417 to see what you can bring.
