| Sullivan County
is one of New York State's birdiest counties, home to the
famous Bashakill Wildlife Management Area and the Mongaup
Valley Bald Eagle area, two sites designated by New York
State as Bird Conservation Areas. It is possible for a person
to find over 100 different species
of birds in one May day at the Bashakill. One can also
find over 200
species of birds in Sullivan County in a year; both of
these feats were accomplished in 2002. A total of over 280
species of birds have been recorded in the county. |
